When there is litigation and the victims feel the need to seek redress in the courts, this is an unfortunate situation for everyone involved. We emphasize prevention to decrease those who may be harmed by misconduct. In the district where a community of stakeholders helped us in formulating the MRC approach for Preventing Sexual Abuse and Molestation Misconduct (SAMM), a verdict now demonstrates that when schools care and do what is right and proactively engage in prevention that the offender is then held all most entirely responsible for their behavior.
The jury felt positive about the school and its efforts. The demand for $15.8 million was not awarded. The Making Right Choices course and HR strategies employed demonstrate a commitment to preventing SAMM from either escalating or occurring. Further our approach assists employees in recognizing when something wrong has taken place and then how to respond. Finally, demonstrated to a jury is the school’s commitment to creating safe places of learning.
